Vancouver shows its Thanksgiving spirit at food bank fundraiser
Richmond, BC, Canada (October 8, 2015) – Just in time for Thanksgiving, BC food banks will receive an estimated extra $22,000 in donations thanks to over 1,200 generous supporters at the 7th annual Nature’s Path Eat Well Do Good Foodraiser. The event, which was held today at Robson Square in Vancouver, raised these much needed funds by hosting a pop-up café and market where organic goods were sold by donation to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society and Food Banks BC.
“Today we came together to eat well and do good as hundreds of busy Vancouverites stopped their day to share a meal in support of those who need it most,” says Nature’s Path co-CEO and co-Founder, Arran Stephens. “I want to thank each and every person who donated or volunteered to end hunger in our province.”
For every dollar donated, food banks can purchase three dollars’ worth of nutritious groceries for the families and individuals who turn to them for help. The need is great – community food banks in the province help feed 97,000 people every month, one third of whom are children.
To further inspire people to give generously, Nature’s Path pledged to match every donation raised at the event, up to 40,000 pounds in organic food. Final matching total is still being calculated.
