Graham Cracker Gingerbread Houses

Graham Cracker Gingerbread Houses
  • Chill Time: 10 Minutes
  • Serving Size: 1 gingerbread house

An easy holiday activity for kids of all ages! Kids will love decorating and eating these tiny houses.

Ingredients

  • 5 graham crackers
  • Honey butter (see recipe below)
  • Your choice of decorations:

Honey Butter

  • 1 stick room temperature butter
  • 1/2 cup honey

Directions

To Make Honey Butter:
  1. In a stand mixer or with beaters, mix until fluffy. Use a butter knife or popsicle stick to spread onto gingerbread house.
Assembly:
  1. Prepare a piece of cardboard or small cutting board with tin foil. Tape the tin foil on the bottom so that it won't come off while small hands are decorating on it.
  2. For the sides and roof of the house, cut two graham crackers in half to make four square pieces of graham cracker.
  3. For the front and back of the house, take two full sized graham crackers and using a serrated knife, make a diagonal cut running from the top left corner on one of them, down to the serrated midline. Then, make another diagonal cut running opposite of the cut you just made to form an equal triangle attached to the square piece. You are cutting an X through the top half of the graham cracker, then removing the cut pieces, to leave a triangle attached to the square piece. Repeat with the second piece.
  4. Spread honey butter on all edges, and connect the walls and roof of the house, then refrigerate for about 10 minutes to let the honey butter harden.
  5. Let your kids decorate as desired with cereal, dried fruit and other snack foods. Enjoy!
