Jyoti Stephens Named One of the Clean50 for 2021

Congratulations to Jyoti Stephens, Nature’s Path VP of Mission and Strategy, who has been named One of the Clean50 for 2021 (Emerging Leaders)!

Canada’s Clean50 Awards are announced every year by Delta Management Group and the Clean50 organization to recognize 50 individuals or small teams, from 16 different categories, who have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada over the past 2 years.

“Jyoti Stephens was chosen after rigorous screening and research by Delta Management, with advice from internal researchers and external advisors, and was among Honourees selected from an initial pool of approximately 900 well-qualified nominees,“ explains Gavin Pitchford, CEO, Delta Management Group.

As VP of Mission and Strategy, Jyoti leads all of Nature’s Path’s sustainability strategies to help the company live into their mission of leaving the Earth better than they found it. Nature’s Path annually avoids 38 million pounds of synthetic fertilizer and 529,000 pounds of chemical pesticides. They established the first Canadian farm to receive Regenerative Organic Certification, meaning they build on the environmental benefits of organic by incorporating techniques to help sequester carbon in the soil.

The criteria in determining Honourees is to carefully consider actual measurable accomplishments, demonstrated innovation, collaboration with other organizations, and the power of the Honouree’s contribution to inspire other Canadians to take similar action. Clean50 honourees come from such a broad array of backgrounds, such that only a few individuals can be recognized within any given category. To receive a Clean50 award is truly indicative of both industry and personal leadership in the Retail / Consumer Products category.

“The process to narrow down to just 50 Honourees this year was extremely difficult – we had a record number of nominees,” says Pitchford. “The great news is that there are many wonderful and committed leaders in organizations across Canada, working in many different fields, who are concerned about the course of Canada’s future if we don’t all take action quickly. These individuals are rarely waiting for regulations to drive their organizations forward – but are leading by example and strategically harnessing sustainability as a force for innovation within their organizations. The individuals we chose for the Clean50 this year are true leaders and should be an inspiration for all Canadians.”

Nature’s Path has pledged to make all packaging recyclable, reusable, or compostable by 2025, and has already achieved 97% recyclable packaging. They are the first company to have all multinational manufacturing sites zero waste certified, and its Sustainable Procurement initiatives are industry-leading.
