Hi i recently purchased your optimum slim cereals. and found them rather tasty though i would not say the same for the lemurs cereals. However, still, thank you for making organic, natural cereals.. :) However, i noticed upon reading the nutritional info panel, that there’s no statement on how many servings is 1 cup (55g) of cereals equivalent to. Could you pls advice? as most cereals serving portions are at approx. 30g, why is your recommended serving at 55g?
thank you, looking forward to trying more of your products!

I’ve enjoyed Optimum Slim for several years. However, I’ve recently been warned by a holistic doctor against all processed cereals due to them being “slurried and extruded at high temperatures and pressures….Most, if not all, nutrients are destroyed in processing…. The process leaves phytic acid intact but destroys phytase, an enzyme that breaks down some of the phytic acid in the digestive tract.” (Phytic acid “combines with iron, calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc in the intestinal tract, blocking their absorption”) (all quotes from Nourishing Traditions by S. Fallon, 2001, p25). The problem being that eating such refined cereals results in an overall depletion of essential nutrients.
As one who bakes, it occurs to me that it wouldn’t be necessary to use such high pressures and temperatures to form flakes and/or form extruded shapes. Without giving away any trade secrets, can you offer any assurances that the temperatures and pressures used in the manufacture of Optimum Slim are low enough to not destroy nutrients? For example, do you use gentle processes such as soaking grains and dehydration rather than high temperature baking?
Thank you for your

Thank you for your knowledgeable comments. This is obviously an issue you take very seriously. Nature’s Path’s cereals are extruded at a temperature that can be greater 100 F. The dough is cooked for a really short time - less than a couple of minutes - and then is kneaded and formed into strands, then cut into beads to be flaked. At this point, it is not “cooked” enough to eat since it still has a raw dough taste. The flakes are then toasted for about 10 minutes at temperatures greater than 250 F. Some people believe that heating food higher than 116 degrees F will de-active the foods’ enzymes. In order to avoid any change in a food’s structure, you would have to stick to a Raw Food Diet. Unfortunately, we don’t currently manufacture any products that would be classified as a Raw Food. Hope this helps! Cheers, Kylie, Brand Ambassador, Panda Puffs Addict

Thanks for your question! Optimum Slim’s fiber content is 9 grams per serving. We have read through all the comments on Optimum Power and thank everyone for their posts. We take everyne’s feedback very seriously. We decided to change Optimum Power to Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon because of consumer requests we were receiving and in an effort to enhance the taste and health of the cereal. We lowered the sugar content, increased the protein, and made the fiber content more digestible. We also removed the fortification in order to make it more organic. The cereal does have lower fiber, but with 7 grams, Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon is still considered a high fiber cereal.

Dearest Nature’s Path,
It is not everyday that people take the time out of their days to go to a web site to type a letter praising a breakfast cereal, but you guys are certainly worth the praise.
I am so grateful to have found organic, natural, and delicious nutrition in Optimum Slim and Optimum Power breakfast cereals.
I have been on a quest to become a healthier person and throughtout many trials that involved absurd diets and fighting hunger I have found that the best and simplest way to nourish and satisfy the body is by taking it back to Mother Earth. The more natural and less processed my food, the better I feel. There is no more hunger, no more deprivation. Now there's simply health. And I want to thank you guys for becoming part of this lifestyle.
Your products are truly wonderful, and your environmental awareness is phenomenal.
Love, Diana
