I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Optimum Slim cereal! I have been eating it for several years; tried others, but I kept coming back to OS. However, like the first few people, I have had an extremely difficult time finding it. My local Kroger quit carrying it after I begged them to get it back for me after they had stopped carrying it before. Now I can’t find it locally anywhere. It’s difficult to continue eating a fantastic cereal if you simply cannot locate it.
So, as others have asked:::: ARE YOU STILL GOING TO MAKE THIS CEREAL???? I certainly hope so, and so I will go out of town to obtain it.
Keep up the good work with your healthy products!

Hi Connie, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. Optimum Slim is an ongoing product and is still available at all major retailers in North America. I would suggest asking your local retailer to make a special order for you, or you can try finding it online at World Pantry or Amazon. I hope this helps! Your cereals are great! I even use them for the nutrition program at my children’s school(on top of yogourt and fresh fruit) and all the kids in the school love it—plus it’s good for them. Thanks for giving us some nutritious choices for breakfast cereals with high fibre—that kids actually like!

I have been enjoying Fruit Juice Sweetened Corn Flakes but recently noticed a taste change - checking the side of the box the cereal is sweetened with grape and/or pear juice - when I first began buying this cereal I thought it was sweetened with grape juice only. Was it? Are you going to offer grape juice sweetned only again? I hope so. I love the cereal and eat it every day but I’m looking for a change if this is not the case. ALSO I tried the Honey Sweetened but cared for it even less then the grape and/or pear. Thank you.

Hi i recently purchased your optimum slim cereals. and found them rather tasty though i would not say the same for the lemurs cereals. However, still, thank you for making organic, natural cereals.. :) However, i noticed upon reading the nutritional info panel, that there’s no statement on how many servings is 1 cup (55g) of cereals equivalent to. Could you pls advice? as most cereals serving portions are at approx. 30g, why is your recommended serving at 55g?
thank you, looking forward to trying more of your products!

Your question doesn’t make sense. A cup is a measure of VOLUME, but a gram is a measure of MASS so the number of grams is entirely dependant upon what’s actually in the cup. Obviously, in the case of THIS cereal, 1 cup equals 55 grams.

I’ve enjoyed Optimum Slim for several years. However, I’ve recently been warned by a holistic doctor against all processed cereals due to them being “slurried and extruded at high temperatures and pressures….Most, if not all, nutrients are destroyed in processing…. The process leaves phytic acid intact but destroys phytase, an enzyme that breaks down some of the phytic acid in the digestive tract.” (Phytic acid “combines with iron, calcium, magnesium, copper and zinc in the intestinal tract, blocking their absorption”) (all quotes from Nourishing Traditions by S. Fallon, 2001, p25). The problem being that eating such refined cereals results in an overall depletion of essential nutrients.
As one who bakes, it occurs to me that it wouldn’t be necessary to use such high pressures and temperatures to form flakes and/or form extruded shapes. Without giving away any trade secrets, can you offer any assurances that the temperatures and pressures used in the manufacture of Optimum Slim are low enough to not destroy nutrients? For example, do you use gentle processes such as soaking grains and dehydration rather than high temperature baking?
Thank you for your

Thank you for your knowledgeable comments. This is obviously an issue you take very seriously. Nature’s Path’s cereals are extruded at a temperature that can be greater 100 F. The dough is cooked for a really short time - less than a couple of minutes - and then is kneaded and formed into strands, then cut into beads to be flaked. At this point, it is not “cooked” enough to eat since it still has a raw dough taste. The flakes are then toasted for about 10 minutes at temperatures greater than 250 F. Some people believe that heating food higher than 116 degrees F will de-active the foods’ enzymes. In order to avoid any change in a food’s structure, you would have to stick to a Raw Food Diet. Unfortunately, we don’t currently manufacture any products that would be classified as a Raw Food. Hope this helps! Cheers, Kylie, Brand Ambassador, Panda Puffs Addict

We’re interested in the rest of the question that was asked. We’re not raw-foodists, but we’ve also been reading Sally Fallon’s writing about extrusion. In the extrusion process, what pressure is the dough exposed to? Also, when you say, “temperatures higher than 100 F,” how much higher? What is the max temperature it is exposed to?
Just to clarify the extrusion process that is used by Nature’s Path, please comment as to whether it aligns with the following description of the extrusion process used for foods from Wikipedia:
“Extrusion has found great application in food processing. Products such as pastas, breakfast cereals, Fig Newtons, cookie dough, Murujju, Sevai, Idiappam, jalebi, french fries, baby food, dry pet food and ready-to-eat snacks are mostly manufactured by extrusion. In the extrusion process, raw materials are first ground to the correct particle size (usually the consistency of coarse flour). The dry mix is passed through a pre-conditioner, where other ingredients are added (liquid sugar, fats, dyes, meats and water depending on the product being made), steam is also injected to start the cooking process. The preconditioned mix is then passed through an extruder, and then forced through a die where it is cut to the desired length. The cooking process takes place within the extruder where the product produces its own friction and heat due to the pressure generated (10–20 bar). …”
Thanks!

Your description above says there are 11grams of fiber in this cereal however it shows that there are 9 grams on the nutrition facts….which is it? Also I a still waiting a response o the issue with the new Optimum power cereal (flax, soy blueberry) A mentioned every single person who wrote a review has not liked the new product and I was wondering i you are planning o getting back the old one.
Thanks for your question!

Thanks for your question! Optimum Slim’s fiber content is 9 grams per serving. We have read through all the comments on Optimum Power and thank everyone for their posts. We take everyne’s feedback very seriously. We decided to change Optimum Power to Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon because of consumer requests we were receiving and in an effort to enhance the taste and health of the cereal. We lowered the sugar content, increased the protein, and made the fiber content more digestible. We also removed the fortification in order to make it more organic. The cereal does have lower fiber, but with 7 grams, Optimum Blueberry Cinnamon is still considered a high fiber cereal.

Dearest Nature’s Path,
It is not everyday that people take the time out of their days to go to a web site to type a letter praising a breakfast cereal, but you guys are certainly worth the praise.
I am so grateful to have found organic, natural, and delicious nutrition in Optimum Slim and Optimum Power breakfast cereals.
I have been on a quest to become a healthier person and throughtout many trials that involved absurd diets and fighting hunger I have found that the best and simplest way to nourish and satisfy the body is by taking it back to Mother Earth. The more natural and less processed my food, the better I feel. There is no more hunger, no more deprivation. Now there's simply health. And I want to thank you guys for becoming part of this lifestyle.
Your products are truly wonderful, and your environmental awareness is phenomenal.
Love, Diana
