I love your mesa sunrise, but at the store where I buy it, all the boxes on the shelf have a big sticker on it that says (Contains Gluten) is that so?

Thanks for taking the time to write to us! The particular batch with the ‘contains gluten’ stickers tested positive for gluten and are therefore NOT GLUTEN FREE. All other boxes of Mesa Sunrise without this sticker are certified gluten free. The boxes with the sticker ‘contains gluten’ were donated to a food bank in Washington state and should not be sold in stores. i wish this cereal was fortified with folic acid. I ate a lot of it before i knew i was pregnant, when it’s crucial to get enough folic acid. If i had chosen another cereal I would have been better off.

Thanks for writing to us about one of our products, Lisa. Organic food companies are limited by government regulations as to fortification (a controversial topic) that in most cases involves adding synthetic substances to food - even if they are called minerals & vitamins. While we appreciate that you may need extra folic acid when you are pregnant, we do not fortify any of our products and our Quality Manager feels it is better for children in particular to learn early to get nutrients from natural fresh food sources such as fruits on cereal, juices, milk, etc. rather than fortification of processed foods. I FOUND THIS CEREAL UP HERE IN CANADA BY CHANCE AND BOUGHT 2 BOXES FROM A LOCAL DRUGSTORE,THEN I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS NEW BREAKFAST CEREAL IMMED.AND REALIZED IT CONTAINED ANCIENT GRAINS THAT THE INCAS AN AZTECS NURTURED YEARS AGO. I found this cereal at the natural food market when I was trying a gluten-free diet. Turns out, gluten is not a problem for me, but I LOVED this cereal so much, I still buy it. Love the Vanilla Sunrise too, but find it can be a bit too sweet. Nature’s Path Foods makes incredible products. Thanks!

This cereal is delicious and doesn’t automatically go soggy in my milk. I like the nutty flavor, but I also enjoy topping it with dried cranberries, unsweetened coconut flakes, and even more ground flaxseed. A delicious and healthy breakfast to enjoy post workout. Although the sugar content is already low, I wouldn’t mind seeing it go at least a gram lower.

I love this cereal! I have been gluten-free about 5 years now and at first it wasn’t easy and GF foods were not widely available.
