Healthier Breakfast, Healthier World, Healthier Kids
Nature’s Path EnviroKidz™ breakfast products start kids’ days off rightRichmond, BC – July 26, 2007 – Nutrition affects children’s behavior, ability to learn, energy and health. How a child eats is also important because it’s in childhood that eating habits are formed. As parents are getting backpacks, new clothes and school supplies ready to send their kids back to school, it is also time to think about how to start their morning. In a time of childhood obesity, genetically modified organisms in our food and destruction of our planet, parents’ attention is turning to nutritional standards and raising healthy children.
Long committed to providing healthy, organic products, Nature’s Path® Organic Foods, North America’s number one organic cereal brand, has been making their certified organic EnviroKidz™ line of breakfast products since 2000. The cereals - including Amazon Frosted Flakes®, Cheetah Chomps, Gorilla Munch, Koala Crisp™, Orangutan-Os® and Peanut Butter Panda Puffs™ are a healthy breakfast alternative for children:
• They do not contain artificial preservatives, flavors or coloring.
• They do not contain trans fat, and are low in fat.
• The ingredients used are grown without chemical pesticides or herbicides.
• The ingredients are not genetically engineered: parents may not be aware that up to 70 percent of processed food that’s now in the supermarket may contain biotech ingredients, according to Gene Grabowski of the Grocery Manufacturers of America.
• They are lower in sugar than mainstream options – less than 30 percent per serving as compared to up to 50 percent.
• Four of the cereals - Amazon Frosted Flakes, Gorilla Munch, Koala Crisp and Peanut Butter Panda Puffs - are gluten free for diet-restricted consumers.
• Two of the cereals - Cheetah Chomps and Orangutan-Os - are made with whole grains.
• Three of the cereals – Cheetah Chomps, Gorilla Munch and Orangutan-Os - are low sodium.
The waffles – Gorilla Banana Waffles and Koala Choco Waffles – are also whole grain and do not have trans fats.
“With the increasing focus on nutritional and wellness standards for children, we are proud to be able to offer the same line of organic products that we have been for years,” says Maria Emmer-Aanes, Director of Marketing for Nature’s Path. “Our breakfast products offer a healthy alternative that parents can feel good about feeding to their children.”
The environment also benefits as each year, 1% of EnviroKidz™ sales are donated towards endangered species, habitat conservation and environmental education for kids.
