A Second Chance

Twenty-four years ago, I met a beautiful young girl on the island of Tinos in Greece.

We shared a brief summer romance, but returned to our respective homes in the United States and the Netherlands at the end of our vacations.

Each having gone our seperate ways in life since that time, and having lost contact with each other for those 24-years, out of curosity, I made an attempt last December to find her again through a Google search.

A place to start

For me it started with a puppy.  She ran around the house and got into everything, so when ants also decided to run around our house I was searching for ways to keep the bugs at bay and keep her healthy.   It turns out that black pepper is great for keeping ants out of your house, just sprinkle it where they are coming in at.

Then I learned that vinegar is a great way to kill dandelions in the yard.

Sustainability in Seattle....

In the spirit of transparency and authenticity, I’ll tell some version of my story here. But first I must reveal: I’m one of the people who created this site, and I’m utterly vested in its success.

Marketing shill? More of a sustainability tout, I suppose. It’s not about selling stuff; it’s about selling a better way of life.

From Clueless to Committed: my path to becoming more sustainable

It all started in 2005. After a long and successful career in marketing, I had started feeling a strong drive to do more to give back. I had no idea what that meant, but the more I spoke to my teenagers about their futures, the more I realized that 1) they were seriously worried about the world they would inherit, and 2) I had been doing very little to help!
