A Second Chance
Twenty-four years ago, I met a beautiful young girl on the island of Tinos in Greece.
We shared a brief summer romance, but returned to our respective homes in the United States and the Netherlands at the end of our vacations.
Each having gone our seperate ways in life since that time, and having lost contact with each other for those 24-years, out of curosity, I made an attempt last December to find her again through a Google search.
Wonder of all wonders, I found her after all this time and sent her a short e-mail - not having any idea about her situation in life in the present day.
Within an hour, I received a response - "Hal - is that you???...I've been looking for YOU for 24-years!!!"
After exchanging many e-mails back-and-forth, we agreed to meet in New York in May - No, not at the top of the Empire State Building - at the airport!
There was only one problem...I was no longer the skinny young man she had met back in 1985, and there was no way I wanted to have her see me in the overweight shape I was in.
I immediately went to my doctor, began a diet and exercise program, and was able to lose 70-lbs by the time we finally met in New York.
We spent nine wonderful days together there...re-newed our affection, and are currently madly in love with each other again.
My "path to sustainable living?"......what a man won't do for the love of a good woman!!!
