Apply for the Nature’s Path $15,000 Gardens for Good Grant Contest

As part of its Put Your Compassion into Action, Vancouver event, Nature’s Path is giving $15,000 in cash, garden design, technical assistance, and support to one deserving non-profit community organization in the Greater Vancouver Area.
Background:

One Vancouver garden grantees will each win the following:
· A $10,000 grant to be used toward the cost of planting an organic garden in their community in 2010 (cash grant)
· Coaching from Organic Gardening magazine to help establish the garden, including technical assistance with design, and technical assistance and guidance to build it (estimated value $5,000)
Participation requirements are as follows:
· Applicants must be a registered non-profit community organization (food bank, soup kitchen, summer feeding program, children’s program or shelter) serving a community in need
· Applicants must own the property or have legal permission from the landowner to establish a permanent organic garden on premises
· Applicants must be prepared to get dirty – using the grant money to execute the installation of an onsite organic garden within the 2010 calendar year
· Applicants must agree that if they are successful they will have a plaque placed in the garden recognizing Nature’s Path sponsorship of the garden.
· Applicants must be willing to provide Nature’s Path with testimonials, conduct media interviews and give Nature’s Path access to the gardens for promotional purposes.
Selection Process:
· This is a one question, 500 words or less, application process. In your essay, please clearly answer the following question: “Tell us about your program, who you serve, and how a garden grant will help you to serve more people.” Email applications to kmcmullan@naturespath.com
· Consider sending us photos and videos that help us to understand your program and illustrate your creativity and commitment to the process.***
· One winner will be selected by a Nature’s Path committee
· Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2010. Winners will be notified by July 31, 2010

***By submitting a photo or video (the “Work”) with its application, the applicant (“Applicant”) agrees to grant to Nature’s Path a royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, non-transferable license to exercise the rights in the Work as stated below:
(a) to reproduce the Work at Nature’s Path’s discretion including, on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or for any advertising or marketing purpose by Nature’s Path and its affiliates;

(c) the Applicant hereby waives in favour of Nature’s Path and its affiliates all moral rights the Applicant has in or relating to the Work.

(b) it has the right to grant to Nature’s Path the licences herein.
The Applicant acknowledges and agrees that Nature’s Path is relying upon its representations and warranties hereunder.
